Summary: Being interviewed on Denpajou unearths floods of memories and nostalgia in Pi. Is everything of the past doomed to remain but a memory?

More Than Memories

'Jin? Ryo? Or a girl, perhaps?' Takki teases as he watches his favourite kouhai text furiously away. They have just finished their interview on his radio show, Denpajou, and the young one is already busy setting up his next appointment.

Pi smiles indulgently. It's not unusual for him to text girls. In fact, he has had more than he can remember.

'Nobody in particular,' Pi shrugs his shoulders and saves the message.

'Keeping secrets from me, eh? When did that happen?' Takki chides carelessly, unaware of Pi's internal turmoil.

'Girl trouble, maybe? You look a little sad,' he continues, his voice lower and deeper than usual.

Pi forces a smile. He doesn't know why exactly. He only knows that he doesn't want to be alone tonight. Being with Takki again after all this time, albeit on a radio show, he finds himself nursing an immense sense of loss and helplessness.

Where did all that time go? Where did that warm hand that would cup his go? Where did that big brother who would hold his hand and show him the world go? Where did all that hugs and kisses go? Where did everything he used to hold dear go?

Before he realised, time has passed him by and the people who were dearest and nearest are far away. So many things and people have faded into memories and turned into past tense.

Suddenly, Pi feels an urge to be held and protected again.

'Talking about all those memories, I wish I was 11 again,' Pi laments softly. 'Maybe then, someone would hold my hand, hug me and kiss me again.'

He doesn't know why he said it. It was so uncool, so needy. But it hurts to keep it in.

'You're not a child anymore, Pi,' Takki answers, with thinly veiled melancholy.

Pi knows that too. Why do people have to grow up? Adults are complicated cowards.

'Being an adult means that not everything will be given to you. Sometimes you have to reach out for it.'

'Reach out for it?' Pi looks at Takki, confused.

Refusing to meet his eyes, Takki chooses instead to look coolly into the distance, fixing his gaze on the opposite padded wall of the tiny studio. Then with a shy smile, he slides his hand, on the radio control panel they're both leaning on, towards him.

Effervescence! Pi finally feels it again. They say when you touch the one you love, your whole world changes. He wonders if that's how it feels like.

Looking away too, Pi slowly spread his fingers over the firm and sturdy hand, remembering every sensation by heart. And in his heart, he makes a vow. This is not just another memory. This is more than that. This is a love that will be there tomorrow, a bond that will stand the test of time.
