I think his will to live is pretty strong. Hopefully he and Tony can figure out a way to upload Tony's consciousness when the end comes so they can coexist happily together.

I love your description of how JARVIS evolves, of how he falls in love with Tony without ever realising it, and how the desire to protect him outweighs everything else. And so of course JARVIS catches Tony when he falls. What else would he do?
