“WONDERFUL! ...BUT NOT PICKLES WITH ICED CREAM? OR CUBES OF SUGAR?”
“Just mustard right now. Sorry.”
The three of them finish eating in comfortable silence, and Thor disappears again - presumably back to his quarters to continue reading. “I'm going to go see how Bruce is getting on now,” Natasha informs Clint, and heads back up to the lab (taking some fruit with her for Bruce, who frequently forgets that food is important when he's preoccupied with something sciencey).
The mansion seems oddly deserted (Steve is, like Thor, presumably curled up in his room with his book - seriously, are the pages laced with crack or something? - and Tony is apparently in a conference call with Pepper, who is still in Japan co- ( ... )

And Natasha's careful, cautious approach to this continues to be kind of heartbreaking. Awww.
*loves Clint, because is made of win*

Natasha definitely needs some hugs. Probably from Clint, who is certainly filling the Only Sane Man role here, indeed.

And I really want to know what happened with the Horribly BabyDad, but I figure Natasha has the right to keep that to herself, aww.

To be honest, I don't really know what happened with the Horrible BabyDad either - I kinda wanted to keep it deliberately vague, so I didn't even work it out in my own head, beyond the fact that he was a Very Bad Person. I don't think Natasha will ever tell the guys, despite (or probably due to) the fact that they would then hunt this asshat down and beat him to a pulp (or, rather, the beating to a pulp would happen after Clint shot an arrow or two through his genitals).

Yeah, he's not the focus, or an issue, and I suspect he's feeding the fishes somewhere anyway, since Natasha is the type to solve her own problems, and if he was a In the Line of Duty problem, he was probably scheduled for termination eventually anyway. I suspect he would not be contributing to the college fund.
And oh god that opens up so many questions about both Tony trying to set up an anonymous college fund, and trying to find the MOST PSYCHOLOGICALLY HEALTHY PEOPLE EVER to raise Natasha's kid... somehow.

And yay, glad I could help, and man, you're right, that does have a certain truthful symmetry to it that I can't see her sharing with anyone. It's not like the truth would get her anything more than some very Disturbed looks, and more sympathy than she needs on that point.
Yay plans!
Yay Loki/Wanda! (Does it make me nuts that I want to see this now, and have half the kids try to take over the world, and the other half rebel by being saner than Pepper and constantly trying to keep their parents from ending the universe?)

(If it makes you nuts, I'm right there with you! I am totally prompting Loki/Natasha when the next round opens. If I don't end up writing it myself, that is, because now I'm planning it all in my head, dammit. Odin and Magneto would be badass grandpas together and it would be amazing.)

That's interesting that you hadn't given much thought to who the BabyDaddy is. I was having all these THEORIES and my major suspicion was that it was Bucky aka The Winter Soldier and their history is why she doesn't really want to talk about him.

Oooh, that is an excellent theory - actually not something I had thought of at all, but it would make sense! As I said, I'm not really planning on expanding on the BabyDaddy backstory (unless I change my mind about it, idk), so certainly feel free to keep that as your headcanon for this. I'm kinda enjoying seeing everyone's different interpretations, considering the lack of thought into it on my part!

(And now, thanks to your icon, I am imagining Thor and Spike hanging out together and writing spectacularly awful poetry. Just because. I... I think I need this in my life.)
