Everyone knows that Phil misses Clint the most. In fact, it is rather strange that Phil isn’t on the mission surveying Hawkeye. But Fury explicitly said that it is a mission for one person and Clint is the only one who fits the criteria.

So Phil lets Clint goes. Reluctantly.

And he misses him. Dearly. Every single moment he’s gone. At night, when the right side of the bed is empty but still smells like Barton. And he misses him.

Especially during the missions when all The Avengers are gathered and there is no Clint talking and chatting over the comms, making sarcastic remarks with Tony. In fact without Hawkeye, everyone seems quieter and more professional. For some reason, Phil doesn’t think that this is a good thing. It doesn’t feel right. No one for Phil to yell at.

So he starts wearing Clint’s purple hoodie to work, over his white shirt and black tie.

No one dares to comment on it.

After 15 days, Clint is back, with Phil supporting him. He should have been back a day earlier but after an unfortunate complication, he is bruised and battered and high on morphine.

“CLINT!” Thor shouts and rushes over to hug the man.

“Careful.” Phil warns.

“I MISSED YOU, MY FRIEND!”

“Me too, buddy.” Clint winces as Thor picks him up into a bear hug.

“We all miss Clint, but right now he needs rest.”

“What happened?” Bruce asks.

“How long will it take for him to recover?” By that, Steve means, how long is it going to take until he gets his waffles.

Phil doesn’t answer, and neither does Clint. They limp towards their bedroom and closes the door.

“DOES HE NEED MIDGARDIAN MEDICINE?”

“I”LL GET HIM WAFF- I MEAN WATER!”

“JARVIS! TURN THE TEMPERATURE OF THE HOUSE HIGHER! AND-“

“IT IS BAD FOR CLINT IF YOU TWO HAVE REUNION SEX!”

“NATASHA!” Both men shouts from within their bedroom.

This fill is fantastic, and may be my favourite Clint-centric one ever. The line about Phil wearing his sweatshirt to work made me all gooey. And the end is priceless. Definitely going in my memories so I can read it again. : D
