When Tony was captured in Afghanistan, he was also gangraped and filmed. The video was sent to Obidiah Stane who kept it. After Stane's death, someone manages to find the video file and posts it online. Naturally, the media storm in response is horrific.

Tony tries to play it off and give the appearance that he's fine, but Nick Fury tells him point-blank that he's off the team until a S.H.I.E.L.D. psychologist gives him a clean bill of mental health. Tony furiously leaves and Steve (and other Avengers, up to anon!) goes after him to make sure he's alright. Steve finds Tony drowning his sorrows and at his complete lowest. H/C, please!

Tony was working on the mark 5 armor when he heard the sound of Pepper's heels approaching. He wasn't listening to music, just to the whirr and buzz of his tools and robots. Pepper stopped walking and Tony felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up, and he forced a grin to his face as he tinkered with the optic cables.

He hated that she was trying to peek in on him. To check up on him, and make sure he wasn't trying to hang a noose around his neck or drink himself to death. Because now she knew the worst of what happened in that fucking cave, and it killed him to think she thought he needed to be checked in on, like he was broken or less of a man or weak. She didn't deserve to have to worry about this on top of everything else ( ... )
