it is a bit more than just a "rape" culture.

inherent, though subtly, in much of how relationships between men and women are defined is a "predator-prey" mentality.

after all, for how many generations has a male with many consentual relationships been referred to as having "conquests"?

I've always hated SNL. Rape and sexual assault jokes infuriate me to no end.

Being a victim of rape, I hate being afraid to watch TV or go see a movie in a theater because of being afraid of rape scenes and having the PTSD triggered!

Hey, I saw you comment about something similar in Renee's journal and was wondering if I could add you. It's hard to find people who understand how awful it feels to have things like that made into a joke, and one of the worst is when I'm watching something that is funny and then that just slams you.

I always thought Mad TV was funnier than SNL. I barely watch SNL but I pretty much stopped after their stupid pedophile trick-or-treat thing. At least when I looked it up so I could remember what it was to tell you, a lot of people agreed that it was stupid and unfunny.

Yes, of course you can add me.

I've started booing at the television, no matter what it is, any time someone on there makes a joke about rape, women in general, people of color, GLBT people, or people with disabilities. I spend a lot of time booing.

I keep watching SNL I think more because I wish it were funny than anything else.

Welcome aboard!

That's a good response! I usually just either say WTF? or end up having to leave the room. There were a few things that were so triggering on South Park and Family Guy that I lost complete respect for the shows (not that Family Guy was worthy of respect, but South Park was at one point.) The stuff was very graphic, realistic, and some was victim-blaming of incest and it made me feel literally physically ill.
