I'm actually getting shades of Kuruk out of this -- if you've seen the Escape from the Spirit World thing, Kuruk and Korra were pretty similar in personality.

"I challenge you to an Agni Kai!"
"Uh, I was just going to the store. D:"

So this may have something to do with why spirit world shenanigans are afoot -- Kuruk's arrogance was punished by Koh, after all. (Maybe Koh will steal Mako away! :D)

And Tenzin does call her out on doing that, too.
