Zuko's Story

My copy of The Last Airbender: Prequel: ZUKO'S STORY just arrived!

Thoughts?

No, I am not happy with the way the TLA movie adaptation is coming along. Nevertheless, this manga was written by two *hardcore* fans of the original animated series--Dave Roman and Alison Wilgus. Then, talented artist Nina Matsumoto created the images from their ( Read more... )

The only thing I didn't like about it was how they redesigned the Blue Spirit mask, but I really enjoyed the story behind it.

I'm pretty sure it's solely because the Blue Spirit mask in the movie is different--otherwise, the artist wouldn't have used a different look.

(But at LEAST we got to see the original, too, haha...!)

Haven't received my copy yet, very much looking forward to it, so glad for this glowing review.

I was incredibly leery of buying it - because of the movie designs. But when I heard - in a post on this lj comm &hearts - that it was written by fans I pre-ordered copies for myself and two friends. :D

Awesome! :) I would be shocked if you guys end up being disappointed by it. Let the community know what you think when you all read it?

One of the copies is for my three tiny neighbours who I introduced to Avatar this past winter and who were so sad when they finally finished the third season. I think I'm even more excited to share it with them than I am to read it for myself. ^^;

Somewhat sadly I ordered it over Amazon and in order to get the free shipping I lumped them in with my order for the collector's edition of book one... which means I have to wait till the end of June to get it T_______T

Ah, the tricky free shipping from Amazon...

Well, good things come to those who wait! :O (Though I actually think there's a way to modify your order so that you can have it shipped now, separate from the collector's edition book 1... but shipping charges will be added.)

I think they aged Zuko up to at least 15 for the manga. They only had him search for like, a year before the series started. :/

Yes, movie Zuko's design doesn't correlate with the "real" Zuko.

The image on that cover doesn't really correlate to Dev Patel!Zuko, either.

That's normal. Many comic tie-ins to live-action franchises aren't allowed to use the actor's appearance to represent the character.
