“Go on and have fun!” Seth told Jacob and Edward pushing the two toward the door.
“B-but the twins!” Jacob complained.
“Jasper and I can handle them for a few hours. Go out and catch a movie or go out to eat…something! Just get out of the cottage for awhile,” Seth replied.
“You two need some alone time. I assure you that Seth and I can watch the twins for a few hours,” Jasper said wrapping his arms around Seth’s middle.
“It’s not a bad idea…” Edward stated looking at his husband. Jacob gaped at Edward, their twins were only a few months old, how could they leave them?! “It’s only for a few hours. I’m sure Jasper and Seth would like to spoil their nephews as much as possible.” Jasper and Seth both nodded with grins. “And we won’t be gone forever, just a few hours.”
Jacob sighed. “I’m not going to win this am I?”
“Nope,” the other three chorused.
“Alright… but we’ll be back within five hours! And if anything happens…”
“Nothing will happen, you know Jazz and I would die before we let anything happen to the twins.”
Jacob nodded, relaxing as Edward wrapped an arm around him. “We’ll see you soon,” Edward said leading his husband outside and to the car.
Jasper and Seth waited until the sound of the car faded before moving. “I’ll fix the twins bottles,” Seth said.
“I’ll do a diaper check,” Jasper replied.
Both twins had been fed, changed and burped, just covered up for the night when both Seth and Jasper stiffened. Someone, three someone’s actually, were approaching and none of them were any of the scents they easily recognized. Jasper started out of the room but Seth stopped him.
“I’ll go.”
“No Seth, I think I know one of those scent’s and if it’s who I think it is then you won’t be any match for them,” Jasper told him.
“Jazz, you really need to have more faith in me and my wolf. But no, I’ll go… if they get by me then I need you to be here to protect the twins. We promised Jacob and Edward that nothing would happen to them and I’m going to hold to that promise.”
Jasper stared at Seth for a moment but knew that his lover was right. “Alright…” He sighed. “But be careful and if they start to be to much howl to the others.”
“I will,” Seth promised already taking his shirt off.
“Seth…” The younger glanced back at Jasper. “I love you.”
Seth grinned. “I love you too, don’t worry, everything will be fine.” With that Seth removed his shorts and left the cottage.

“Wait,” Jane stated holding up her hand. “I smell wet dog.” Both her companions stopped and sniffed the air.
“Wet wolf actually,” Seth replied as he stepped out from behind the trees that hid the cottage from the eye. “Can I help you?”
“Why would a wolf be able to help us?” Alec sneered.
“Quiet.” Jane fixed her red eyes on Seth. “Perhaps he can help us. I smell Edward and his mutt everywhere but tell me, where can I find them?”
“They’re out.”
“Out where?”
Seth shrugged.
“Why do I smell a mixture of their scents?”
“Because they both run these woods like crazy?”
Jane smirked at the sarcastic answer. She concentrated on Seth and he went to his knees as pain flooded his system. “Now… perhaps you will be a good dog and answer my questions.”
“Bite me,” Seth growled.
“Don’t tempt me.”
Alec sniffed the air again. “Why are two of the mixed scents stronger than the individual one’s?”
Seth kept his mouth closed, phasing. He growled at the three vampires standing in front of him. In his wolf form he towered over Jane and Alec but the third vampire met his eyes with a bored look. These vampires wouldn’t get anywhere near the twins, he would die before that happened. Seth growled again and lunged at the three.
---
Jasper listened to the sounds of his lover fighting the unknown vampires. He bit his lip and his hands made fists, wanting to run out and help but he had to watch the twins. Caleigh started to cry. Jasper turned and picked her up, rocking and trying to sooth her. “Shhh little one.” Caleigh ignored him and continued to cry. Caleb joined in her crying a moment later.
The start of a howl was cut off quickly and it Jasper’s heart had been able it would have stopped. Seth! Seth was in trouble! Jasper pulled out his cell phone and quickly sent a text to Edward, Jacob, Carlisle, Emmett… everyone who was near. 911.
---
Edward pulled out his cell phone as it vibrated in his pocket. He frowned when he saw it was a new text message from Jasper. “It’s from Jasper.”
Jacob groaned. “Don’t check it; we’re having such a good time.” After leaving the cottage Edward had taken him out to eat and then to a small carnival that was in town.
“Something could be wrong though.”
Jacob sighed. “Alright, what does it say?”
Edward flipped his phone open and clicked open the message. “911.” He glanced at Jacob before they both took off. Once they were out of sight Jacob phased and stayed right on his heels.
---
“Stupid mutt,” Jane said as she looked at the blonde wolf lying in the pile of crashed trees. Seth started to get up but she quickly brought him down again. “Pain.” A smile lighting up on her face as she watched him fall again.
“You know if there is one there is probably a pack…” Alec told his sister.
“We can easily handle a pack of werewolves.”
“But these aren’t werewolves… it’s not a full moon.”
“Whatever.”
---
Esme entered the cottage, quickly taking Caleigh from Jasper. The baby girl’s crying stopped almost immediately. “Go, Carlisle and Emmett already went.”
Jasper nodded and ran out the door. It was easy enough to find Carlisle and Emmett, who was staring down the three red eyed vampires. He scanned the area, his eyes widening when he found Seth’s still form, he could tell he was still alive… but that didn’t change the fact that he was worried for his lover. He glanced over at Emmett and saw that his hands were fists as well as his brother looked at Seth and then met his gaze.
“Carlisle…” He growled. Carlisle looked at him and held out his hand.
“Jane, Alec, Felix,” Carlisle greeted. “To what do we owe the pleasure of your visit?”
“Aro was not pleased with our failure,” Jane stated.
“You caught us by surprise the last time, I’m afraid your chance of completing your mission with all of us here is very slim,” Carlisle replied.
Jane looked at all of them and then glanced at Alec and Felix. “He’s right,” Alec said with a shrug.
“Jasper!” Edward called. “Where are the twi-” He stopped when he realized who stood with his family. Jacob growled at Jane, his fur standing on end.
“Twins?” Alec questioned with a curious tone. “Is that what you meant to say Edward?”
Edward kept his mouth shut, glaring.
“We will tell Aro of this, we will find out what you are hiding,” Jane told them. “Come Alec, Felix.” She turned and the other two followed her. She paused by Seth’s still form glancing down at him, Jasper growled…if she dare touch Seth.... “Just how many of these shifters are there Carlisle?”
“Ten,” Carlisle answered.
“Interesting,” she mused and then disappeared into the forest.
As soon as she was gone Jasper raced to Seth’s side. He had phased back at some point but was still unconscious, his arm bent at an odd angle. “His arm is broken Carlisle.”
“Let’s take him back to the cottage, I’ll set it there,” Carlisle answered.
“The twins?” Edward questioned.
“Esme is with them,” Jasper replied as he gathered Seth into his arms.
“Are they gone?” Emmett asked.
“For now,” Carlisle stated glancing at the forest where the three Volturi guards had disappeared. “But I’m afraid that will not be the last we see of them.”
