Rain whipped around Alec as he stood still as stone. The water had flattened his hair to his head, running in his eyes and blurring his vision but he didn’t move to wipe it or his hair out of his eyes. The weather fit his mood perfectly. The weather distracted him just enough to not think of…Embry…
Alec blinked his bright red eyes for the first time in over an hour. No… No more love and no more pride… Cold wind whipped through his thin frame again and Alec’s eyes followed the gusts path up the hill. Alec’s eyes widened at what he saw. He started running before his brain could process the truth. “EMBRY!”
By the time he reached the top of the hill the image he had seen was gone. Alec looked around wildly. If his heart had still beat it would have been hammering against his chest. Sun broke through the clouds as Alec fell to his knees. The rain still fell around him but it wasn’t so cold now. Alec could have sworn that he felt warm arms wrap around his shaking frame.
“Embry…?” He whispered blinking the water from his eyes. His fingers gripped the slick mud under his hands. “Embry!”
