We woke this morning to news that the death toll had risen to 26 overnight although this is expected to rise to over 40 with unconfirmed reports of missing loved ones, I pray it does not. Edit: as of Noon today the death toll has risen to 35.

It's awful. We had rain here overnight which has reduced the bushfire threat around my suburb but it's still windy so it's probably all dried out. Not that I don't think we should send firefighters - we SHOULD but I hope no bright spark decides to start a damn fire while our firies are in Victoria, we'll be shot
