Uhh. Martha did not marry Mickey. Martha married a doctor (I dunno that we ever got to meet this doctor, but she notes the irony in marrying a doctor who travels to far-off places to save the world.)
For the rest, I agree with the episode summary. Still not loving Smith, but Amy is awesome. Rory ... well, least said, soonest mended there. You have a great episode coming up in this week's, though, so take heart.
Mickey is introduced as the boyfriend of the Ninth and Tenth Doctor's companion Rose Tyler, and a recurring character on the programme. He first appears in the 2005 series episode "Rose." In that story, he is caught up in the events of the Auton invasion when Rose meets the mysterious Doctor. Later, he briefly joins the TARDIS crew as the Tenth Doctor's second companion[1] in the 2006 series, before reappearing again in the 2008 series, having broken up with Rose and matured into a much more heroic character. He goes on to wed Martha Jones, another of The Doctor's companions, and continues to involve himself with alien contact.
Mickey's involvement stemmed from having lived on the same Southeast London council estate as Rose, and working as a mechanic at the local garage. He is the first black human companion of the Doctor ever seen on screen.
They retconned, and married him and Martha. [hide]
I hate magic beans storytelling. Someone thought 'how cool, if they didn't know what was real?' And instead of fleshing out that idea, we got a bunch of crap followed by the last minute reveal of 'oh, here's these little things...problem explained.'
Joss Whedon did the same damn thing in "Once more with feeling", the musical ep of Buffy. All thru the ep, the Scoobies are desperate to figure out what is causing this. Even after they know it's a demon, Xander never once telegraphs to the audience that he is not as clueless as everyone else. At the very last second, he admits to having been the one who summoned the demon the whole time. And no one is mad at him, even a little. Even tho innocent townies are dead, Buffy almost died, and Dawn was nearly married off to the demon.
I'll be honest and say that I hope with this crack in time rewriting things, that the Time War is erased and I get to see other fucking Time Lords again.
I liked the Master (pre-this last jackass who turned him into a buffoon).
I liked the Rani.
I liked Cardinal Barusa (except in the 5 Doctors where he went wonky).
The latest Master was no worse than Eric Roberts version. But that is not saying much.
The only reason the rewriting time idea is pissing me off is that he keeps acting like it's never happened before. When HE AND MARTHA rewrote an entire year of time themselves. And it was established that he and Martha remembered doing it.
I hate the Time War plot and agree completely.
I want to see Romana. I want an onscreen exploration of Susan, his granddaughter from the first series. Who were her parents? Was Susan the child of his son or his daughter? Who was Susan's Grandmother/The Doctor's mate?
