I always comandeered the kitchen table to work at - so comfotable and spacous it seemed - even when I had an enormous desk. The desk intoned, seriously, with undue gravitas, 'WORK' the Kitchen Table said, 'Try It!'
true that.:) My basement studio has become (hopefully only temporarily) a sort of dungeon...too full of big unfinished projects and a place I feel too trapped in. Upstairs...within the light and casual activities of everyday, i move around and then sit back down...for now it's a refreshing and needed change.

I know something of what you mean - since we moved and the computer has become separated from the rest of our life (though janet has hers in the Book Room) it is so nice to get away to relax to music and stare out at thetired garden.
