It's just wonderful that children are so able to light up our days, little miracles happening every day. Gotta love 'em. :)

yepyepyep. and they're all little PEOPLE, I can't help but imagine them all grown up and then regress them back to the age they're at now, amusing and moving little mental exercise. :)

What happens to all those confident six-year old artists?

At some point someone they 'respect' tells them they aren't Doing it right, and then they start trying to emulate some standard and lose their creativity, and then later on people say 'stop wasting time and go get a job'and it becomes a 'hobby' they no longer have time for.
*sigh* But not always! If it's encouraged and they are exposed to artists and a few people who think it's a valid activity...they can grow with confidence. Recently my nephew (5) sang a song to me on the phone and I could've cried from how confident he sounded. He learned a song and here it is! Loud and beautiful. Ugh, when I think of how insecure I feel when singing in front of anyone...even though I KNOW I can sing...it's awful. Somewhere along the line, my confidence shattered..I am trying to coax it back. Seeing children...is such a reminder..that once it was different. and perhaps can be again.
