Went to see Quantum of Solace last night- that movie was SO not made for me. It was almost like they took James Bond + took out 80% of anything I might like. I don't remember Bond flicks being chronically "all the good people die", for example. Not into it ( Read more... )

The mattress is gone!!! I was sick of dragging it across the house whenever we gamed. (^_^)

It seemed like the Bond film was aiming to be a lot more like the Bourne series to me. Which I don't mind... but they could have done a bit more.

A hotel with exploding hydrogen cells everywhere and dropping metal walkways throughout the building was a little silly. It also seemed wrong to see so many Fords prominently placed in the movie but they began that with Casino Royale. Also if I am ever in a situation in which I think I may eventually be tempted to drink oil.. I will instead pour it out early on so as to deny my enemy the satisfaction.

So that's why I've always slept badly on firm mattresses. Even now, when my waist, er, isn't as small as it used to be, I still experience the sore hip thing.

You know what's the most comfy of all? A traditional Yucatan "matromonial" hammock. I brought one back from Mexico and used it for camping literally until it started to fall apart. They're made of a few very long slender strings that are just kind of looped around each other and only tied together at the ends, which allows the hammock as a whole to shape itself to your body and reshape itself every time you roll over. Only thing is, blankets kind of don't work with it. I've had some comfortable nights using a sleeping bag in one, but it takes a lot of doing to get in and out of. And if you're sharing it, there's going to be a lot of skin contact involved, continuously, like it or not.
