Ugh, yes. I finally managed to watch it. I wasn't expecting much after the trainwreck of S3, but this...wow, this was terrible. I will say that I think the actors generally did well with what they were given and told to do (sometimes the only thing you can do as an actor to try and make something fly is chew the scenery), and they managed to salvage the occasional moment, but the script was AWFUL. Melodramatic, illogical, with no respect for the characters or the audience. Just...wow. Ugh. UGH.

I commiserate with you :( Went in with abysmally low expectations, and to say it still managed to be the ultimate letdown would be a gross understatement. I actually felt embarrass for what Cumberbatch had to work with, but that death scene. Dear Lord. It was unforgivably bad. I hear some of it was ad libbed, too, which makes me shudder even harder.

I did just get finished watching The Lying Detective, though, and while I can't say I wasn't entirely un-frustrated, it was something of a relief from that over the top craptacular nonsense that numbed my brain into porridge last week.

Also, ITA that TST had ZERO respect for the characters. It was basing of the highest order, and did a nice job of taking a steaming plop of you-know-what on the viewer's intelligence.
