Interesting... I am actually more torn on this one than the first. I was prepped to despise any hostility on John's part at Sherlock's return from the dead, but found that in the context of the episode, and having the blow, as it were, softened with humor, worked remarkably better than I thought it would ( Read more... )

They are outrageously AU adaptations enjoyable only if you forget this is supposed to be Holmes & Watson.

I started off thinking that and have never felt contradicted. But I'm sorry for people who really did think this was the Doylean second coming and are having second thoughts.

Also, positively NO fridging of Mary allowed, Mofftiss.

I think my problem was S1E1 was so close to Canon, that I systematically overlooked the faults that I know turned many off from the second episode. To this day, I still regard A Study In Pink as one of the best Holmes adaptations, despite the AUish-ness. It's only that I'm becoming very disillusioned with their faithfulness to Canon now, which is a major letdown :(

I am still finding it has salvation as a crime drama, and otherwise found it to be wonderful aside from my gripes.

If they do knock her off, especially after the condition she's supposed to be in, I don't care how much of a classic fanfic trope that is. That is going to be an untinikably VILE prospect >:|
