Summer slows and the cool nights creep in.  This past week I've needed my fleece jacket in the mornings and it seems autumn is inching closer.  Normally I would be embracing its approach with welcome, but I don't feel quite done with summer just yet.  I haven't done nearly as much as I would have liked with the warm days and now they are slipping ( Read more... )

Or maybe you just need to ask yourself what you need, dear one.

Take your time. Don't push yourself to do anything. Ask your body. Your body knows what it needs and when it needs it. Let the inner rhythm of its heartbeat guide your steps.

You might also want to take a break from what you've been doing.

Good advice that I'll take to heart. Thank you.

Sometimes I find it hard not to push when I have so many responsibilities and demands. And I'm very good at pushing myself (even if I respond terribly to being pushed). So yes, I need a break- and I've arranged to get much more of one over the next few weeks.

Good! You deserve it. I'm much the same way, and I find that it's very important for me to take as many breaks as I need, when I need them. Without the recharging, nothing else can happen.

You don't need to take any advice to heart except what you can listen to in/from your own heart.

I have carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists and it's amazing what a couple of half hour massages from a good massage therapist can do to help. It may help with your tendonitis/neuralgia too.

Mmmm. That sounds like a most excellent suggestion. I've never had a professional massage, but I should look into it. Thanks!

My curiosity makes it possible for me to be a researcher, but also makes that job more difficult. I find that when I need to hold onto a single thought to keep me focused on what I'm writing, it helps for me to write that single thought into its own document. As that thought evolves with more research, I add onto it. In this way, I end up building an outline for my argument. Yes, I'm still off in Tangent Land most of the time, but when I realize I'm so far off I've forgotten where I was going with it, I go back to my working document and review what I've written so far.

I love being ADD...

...I get so many things started! *grin*

Yeah, I guess curiosity can be a mixed blessing. I like your idea of the evolving focus statement though- might have to try that one.

You're always welcome to visit me in Sydney, and get swamped by the noise and bustle so that when you return home everything is calm and quiet and logical again in comparison.

Hmmmmmm.... that is quite a tempting offer! Thank you! I'll certainly give it some thought and discuss it with my beloved. I've not really experienced "big city" Australia yet...

You are both ALWAYS welcome, together or individually!! Just give me enough notice to unbury the futon in the spare room, and to explain to the cats they need to share for a while ;-)
