I'm glad you got a visit from your grandfather.

Thank you. It was very nice to spend some time with him. He and I rarely see each other since he died, but in my dreams he is always the playful old man he was in life.

Is there some way in your life that if your masculine wisdom didn't try to herd your capacity for fertility/creation/abundance that you might be led deep into a world of inner wealth that you never knew existed? Sounds like there is something down there for you.

What do you mean by "masculine wisdom"? And how would I free my "capacity for fertility/creativity/abundance"?

I *am* often over-controlled and limited by my mind, a weakness that I am struggling to correct by purposely being more casual/artistic/spontaneous. So far I have had only limited success- a lifetime's pattern is not quickly revised, I guess. Is this something like what you were suggesting the dream signifies?

I have a great respect for dream analysis. I am normally good at doing interpretation, but my understanding fails me sometimes when it comes to understanding my own dreams. I think it has to do with perspectives. Anyway, if you would care to comment further I would certainly welcome your insights and ideas...

To have a more thorough go at the dream, we'd need to know what your personal associations to the dream symbols are. I went off cultural amplifications with grandfather being the archetypal masculine or wise old man and the cow a symbol of fertility. It would be more interesting to know what those symbols mean to you in your psyche.

What do you mean by "masculine wisdom"?....I *am* often over-controlled and limited by my mind,...Is this something like what you were suggesting the dream signifies?Without any personal associations, a grandfather is less likely to be about your personal neuroses (than say a controlling father image or an overly complicated situation) and more likely to be pure wisdom. By masculine wisdom, I'm thinking of wisdom acquired through the means of one's own will or determination or focus. (Things like book knowledge, schooling, experiences that you have intently pursued, etc.) Compare this to feminine wisdom which is more intuitive, more of the inherent, "I just know it and can't tell you why" variety ( ... )

If knowing my personal associations would help you form a more thorough interpretation, I will gladly expound on them ( ... )
