Subconscious Author

Authors talk about the Internal Editor all the time, but they don’t often talk about their Subconscious Author. This post by Lisa Schroeder got me thinking . . . does every writer have a Subconscious Author? I would think we all do, but I’m not sure.

I think my SA was the one who got me through NaNoWrimo last year. But right now since I'm revising I haven't heard from my SA yet . At least not in a significant or obvious way, and I've been dealing with my CA a lot.
We will see what happens.
My MG was character driven. I saw my little heroine and the antagonists before anything else. However my two YA drafts were plot driven :). I guess I will be all over the place until I figure out which way is really me.

It's best when both SA and CA know their places, and are patient when one or the other has the spotlight. It's when SA is trying to be subtle and CA is asking, "Why?" that things get gummed up. :)

Yes, I definitely have a SA putting things in -- sometimes things which other readers have pointed out in the future (to my surprise) ;)
