I'm already emotionally invested with Percival Graves and the movie hasn't even come out yet. And in general, this has caused me to have a serious Colin Farrell situation and it doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.
He plays Percival Graves, an Auror and the Director of Magical Security and is also the right-hand man of the President of MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America). He is described to be a powerful wizard, and in the film he is tasked with tracking down Newt when his magical creatures start creating a security threat. And based on the trailers there may be something else he's involved with as well, whether investigating on the side or otherwise, which may be connected to a bigger plot of the films later on (a.k.a. Dumbledore vs. Grindelwald).
That is the only brief description of his character that we've gotten, plus some basic details Colin has given during interviews. I figure they don't want to spoil too much.
The midnight showing is still pending, but I'll definitely be going at the earliest opportunity, obviously.
Originally I was indifferent to the idea of a Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them film franchise, because I don't really care about Newt. However, the more information we got from what the first one would entail the more intrigued I became, because I find the political aspects a bit more interesting than the actual beasts inside of Newt's suitcase. And then, of course, my interest skyrocketed mostly because of Colin Farrell's character, Percival Graves, which has become my main reason of watching this film. I am utterly fascinated with him already, which is the quickest I've ever gotten invested with a character entirely based off of the trailers alone. So he has become the main motivation of my excitement for this film.
I will definitely watch it at some point, but I very rarely go out to the movies because my wife is hearing impaired and it can be hard to find showings with captions. I've gotten used to waiting for DVD releases and staying comfy at home. We'll see, though!
There is a small chance that I'll go to the midnight showing, but a very much bigger chance that I won't and just see it day of release or the immediate following day.
