Hi friends. I'm typing this on a library computer. Not even one in Trumper. One on the main floor. I don't know. I was checking my mail. I meant to post yesterday whenever I was in the dining hall w/ internet (dinner?) but LJ was down, but now I can add random things that have happened since then. But MAINLY:

I was randomly checking Twitter, and I ( Read more... )

procrastination ruins my days, i go to hogwarts, college bugs me - usually, ravenclaw house is home, people are stupid, feminism - a lifestyle choice, books - the best damn thing, writing - my whole world, real life, ranting is a good release, in a different country, movies

There was a student here who killed himself a few months ago, and while we also got similar emails, the fact that it was suicide was very secret. I had to go digging to find it, and the article I finally found also mentioned that it was hard to find any information about his cause of death. And it's not the same, but it's still a case of a school not divulging the whole story. And in our case, I guess the defense is that he has a right to privacy and the public doesn't need to know the details, so I'd guess that's the same mindset your school was in? I don't know.

Ugh, she sounds really annoying, that's like the number one rule of workshops: you sit back and you keep your mouth shut while your piece is being discussed.

I knew that Gary Oldman was in a version of Dracula! I did not know that Starbucks was named after a Moby Dick character, although that might explain the siren-mermaid thing in their logo. Or maybe not, since I haven't read Moby Dick. It makes sense in my head, it has to do with the ocean.

Yeah... but that she was in the hospital, she must have been found trying to kill herself or something, and she ended up in the hospital. And reporting a rape isn't really something that would be talked about a lot... but I dunno. I just feel like I should have known.

Yep. But defying that one simple rule is right up her alley of "greater than thou". *wants to strangle her*

Well now, after I read the last ~70 pages, I will eventually get it from Netflix and WATCH IT. Well, I was supposed to have read up to the point where I see/meet the character by now... but I haven't. But I'm sure in some context it makes sense. Maybe I'll find out. Maybe not.

Obviously, not the same entirely but I found out a few weeks ago that racism among students and faculty towards students exists at my college. This infuriated me as this school is built on trust and "sisterhood" (all girls college) and how "diverse" the campus is (I already knew that was a load of shit but anyway...) and how we have an African American PRESIDENT FOR CHRIST'S SAKE. I'm infuriated that it was going on with out me knowing, that I never see it or acknowledge it to do something about it and how it fucking happens here. WHERE AM I GOING TO SCHOOL?!

I'm really sorry about all of that stuff concerning the girl who killed herself. It's really saddening. On so many levels.

I want to read yo shizz I am just super busy, BUT IT'S THE WEEKEND AND I FINALLY HAVE INTERNET WOO LET'S DO THIS!

That's totally ridiculous. I mean, I know that my school (also women's only - woohoo!) is not diverse like, in the slightest, in reality, but I have a very hard time believing that we're racist. Especially with the Diverse Student Leadership Conference we host. We're more... classist and sexist. *shrug* But I pretty much knew what I was getting myself into.

Yeah. :(

YOU SHOULD READ IT. And if you missed the first time I linked, or don't know that it's in my fic journal, or where that is.. HERE IS A LINK: http://dirtynunfiction.livejournal.com/10285.html

God, I love that icon. ♥
