Will someone please please please please PLEASE give me a legitimate reason to do an in depth look at Mary Poppins? I want to SO BAD. And on several points.

Mary Poppins as a character. Both how she is portrayed and who she really is. On a similar note, Bert and who he really is, and where he comes from. How they know each other, and how they ended ( Read more... )

Why do you need a reason? Just meta away! :D I've recently been having character speculation thoughts on everything from Harry Potter to Star Wars to the morning comics page--apparently I'm in some sort of giant meta mood and I cannot read a book/watch a movie or TV show/consume any other type of media without getting thinky about it. And then I was thinking I wanted to share said thinky thoughts with the WORLD but nobody's really prompting me to do so, so, you know, should I really do it, but now I've pretty much decided sure why not and am going to be publishing my meta on Garfield (...this is just a hypothetical example, mind) if I very well want.

So the point is, BE FREE! I AM GIVING YOU A REASON! XD

Yes, but this is not one of those things. I mean it is, sort of. But like, my mind is in scholar mode and it wants to get some scholarly shit done, and look up possible scholarly journals to reference and books, and use footnotes and shit.

Plus, some of these points in my head have been brewing and configuring for over a year. Some of it's like I noticed the other night when I watched it, but still.

I want my meta to be totally, totally legit. And serious research will be done.

I would totally do it RIGHTNOWTHISSECOND. Except, y'know, paper, presentation, other paper, other presentation AND paper, and weekly homework and book I need to read. And being social. But now, while I have access to a university library that can legitimately tell me time period-y things and social class-y things and a University of Notre Dame access to JSTOR.

I shall do my best to be free, though!

Also, I sort of love you. ♥

(why on earth are you up/commenting my journal at this time? YOU SHOULD BE SLEEPING!)

hahahahahahahahaaaaaa Yeah, like I did this already. I wrote this post when I was in Australia in the midst of a ton of other schoolwork. I do not have time to go ALL OUT with scholarly shit on Mary Poppins and comparing it to the standards of the time and stuff.

Oh, if I could just devote like a year to researching, and writing a book or a novel on their relationship, and how revolutionary the Mary Poppins world is, I SO WOULD.

I AM SO JEALOUS. SO SO SO SO JEALOUS. I mean, not that I don't listen to that song and analyze the lyrics and giggle maniacally because it is just so clever and Mrs. Banks is kick-ass anyway... but OMG LOVE IT SO MUCH.
