whoa how the HECK did that happen?? what part exploded? It looks like it was closed when it exploded, since both sides are f'ed up. Man i'm curious!

apparently not. i did some research - there are others and apple has recalled the batteries for the powerbooks recently. this would be why :)

They really do explode, but the problem in a lot of cases is that people have patched it to keep the computer running full-throttle even after you close the screen. It wasn't made to withstand that kind of heat.
