Also, I hadn't realized it made double what MR made on its opening day! Considering that the people who love MR LOVE MR, I've never thought about how well that did in terms of numbers, but the fact that even more people are interested in Australia is surely a good thing.
And lastly:

It seems that it's always the negative reviews/news that gets put out there in the media... I don't usually take much notice of critics' opinions myself, it's just there opinion after all.
It's pretty impressive that it made more than Moulin Rouge on it's opening day.
And it's definitely a film that deserves a round of applause! :D

Some people just don't GET Baz. Luckily, a lot of my friends went over the holiday break and I heard nothing but glowing reviews and general squeeing. We're also running a gushing review for it in this week's upcoming issue. ;)
For as fast as some outlets were happy to put the film up on an unreachable pedestal, they have been just as eager to shoot it down.
UGH I cannot EVEN imagine how obnoxious that would be. >_<

And it's this focus on the negative (which was ironically created by the media in the first place; the general public have been enthusiastic in comparison) that only escalates the issue, like a vicious cycle. This film should be celebrated, after all!
