Forwarded upon request:

Austin Community
Please get the word out:

A group in Houston and I'm sure elsewhere are meeting tomorrow. Sunshine dearly wishes she could be here to act on the recent news, but since she can not I am acting in her stead. There will be a meeting tomorrow night for all those in the Austin community that wish to attend. This will be to discuss the recent drama and to determine a position we can unite behind as a community and bring forward to the rest of CMA. This will be partly a bitching meeting but mostly an action meeting - because some kind of action is needed. We can not continue to bitch and expect things in this organization to change.

I don't know many of you but Sunshine requested this and I deeply respect her. Because I'm not fond of trying to talk in bars, I will host this at my, Lance and Alex's house. I know this is short notice and north and all, but I hope many of you will make an effort to come together and communicate ideas and opinions with an aim towards resolving the disputes in CMA for the good and harmony of us all.

We live at 3105 Leaf Circle. Please be here at 7:30, and please bring your own munchies and drinks as I will not have the time or money to provide for everyone. Children are welcome, I have plenty for them to watch and play with, however, animals are not welcome as I have a quite finicky cat.

I hope to see as many of you as possible tomorrow night, and I hope that all this is resolved as quickly as possible.

You also might want to check out this section of the by-laws:

2.07
A quorum shall be defined as 1/10th or 10% of the current voting
members, or 100 members, whichever is less. The majority vote of the
holders of the votes entitled to be cast, present in person or by
proxy, shall decide any question brought before such a meeting unless
the question is one for which law or the Articles of Incorporation
requires a different vote.

(*Poster's note - Only 100 you say??? Surely between my friends and
friends of friends I know that many people in CMA*)

2.05
Special meetings of the Members may be called by the Executive
Director and shall be called by the Executive Director upon the
written request of any two Directors or by a Member in good standing
through the following means:

A. Delivery of a petition, signed by a quorum as defined in section
2.07, with specific Agenda Items, to the Director of Records or the
Executive Director by Certified Mail.

B. Delivery of sufficient funds to cover any and all mailing costs
incurred through notice of a special meeting request for dates other
than the scheduled Fall and Spring business meetings, as set forth in
item 2.06 to the Director of Finance or Executive Director.

Now, in the event that any type of petitioning does occur at these meetings, I would recommend that you bring your CMA membership card (or at least have your membership number to include on the petition), so that the people receiving the petition know exactly how serious we are and they can't begin to make claims about padding the numbers.
