In the weeks leading up to the Michigan State Women's Pinball Championship bunny_hugger, as state representative, did a lot of work that doesn't get much acclaim. Some of it was finding all the women in the state who were qualified to play or were even remotely plausible alternatives. This past weekend saw the Michigan State Pinball Championships for the International Flipper Pinball Association. Championships because Saturday was the day for the Open tournament, and Sunday for Women's. We had nothing to do with the Open tournament, as we don't play enough to rank anymore. Plumbing follow-up. About 2 pm today the plumbers called to say they were ready for us and just waiting on technicians to be available to send them out. I assume this was a reassurance call, which was in fact reassuring because I'd been plagued with the doubts that the appointment was for the afternoon rather than the morning. Here is a story of a thing I messed up.

Our bathroom faucet started to leak months ago. For a while you could shut it down, or down to a tolerably small trickle, but it's been a while since that worked. Last year or so we asked a plumber to replace the faucet because of other issues and they were unwilling because the sink basin is cracked ( ( Read more... )

My father's cousin died this week. It was one of those things not surprising except in details. She was, I believe, a few years older even than my father, and living alone, and apparently sometime last week she fell and may have had a mini-stroke. I don't know the order of those events. But from there it wasn't an unpredictable path.
