Oddly enough, disposable wins:

You may argue, but my Marketing textbook has data from research done by Procter & Gamble on the environmental effects of cloth and disposable diapers:

Raw material consumption (lb)      C: 3.6                 D: 25.3
Water consumption (gal)                  C: 144               D: 23.6
Energy consumption (BTUs)           C: 78,890          D: 23,290

Yeah, uh. Are they saying we should all just be wearing disposable clothing then? Because cloth diapers are just cloth-- thick layers of it. Same thing we all put on every day. Also, the energy consumption bits are probably geared to measure the entire life of the diaper, which is waaaay more uses per diaper for cloth-- I'm thinking like 30 to 50 ish, at least, vs. 1 use per disposable. That's the only way those numbers really make sense to me. Then again, I didn't do the research either. I know cloth diapers do use way more water, but then again, way less oil-based plastics and synthetics. Hm.

Also-- cloth diapers, cost wise, are way less, even after you factor in the water and electicity use of washing them. So financially, they when. Take THAT, Procter and Gamble. XD

Can you tell I'm a fan of cloth over disposable? Zack and I have disagreements over it pretty often-- that and homeschooling. XD
