So, I watched it. First of all let me get this out of my system. IT SHOULD NOT be read as my opinion on the movie itself for good or bad. Spoilerphobes don't mind this outside the cut comment

If everyone disappears because of timeline switches while Ba'al is messing around (I guess because they wouldn't be where they are?), then what happens to real Mitchell at the end?
He's the real Mitchell where he's supposed to be. Because he went back and prevented his grandfather from dying and the stargate reached it's proper destination. Which closed the timeloop and set everything back on it's proper course. You can maybe think about the Mitchell in 1929 forward as a splinter timeline. Once events happened as they were supposed to in 1939, then Mitchell was born on schedule in 196-whatever. And then he doesn't have to go back in time. Because he already did it.
I did like the fun of including an honest-to-goodness grandfather paradox as part of the story.
The bit about going to Taonas to get the ZPM was the part that had me scratching my head too. But... oh well.
I have an idea for a plot bunny now with Mitchell and ending up that as soon as he takes Ba'al's stargate device (after the pic taken), he disappears a la Marty McFly because he doesn't need to stay because he never goes back in time because he did...I don't know. Maybe I won't write it.
BTW, what happened to original timeline Ba'al in the 1940s and onward when 2008 Ba'al went back in time to change things around? I mean, did he kill...himself, then how did he exist and um...
(I can't credit this coming to me. Another friend brought it up when we were discussing the movie.)
I loved Daniel's angst and and his face lighting up at seeing his work finally published and in public! And how it falls when he sees dork Daniel on the back.
Yes, I really loved that part. All the character moments were well done. this is more what Moebius should have been like.

That should be the new SG-1 motto. They could get t-shirts printed.
And no one but Daniel would dare to snark the US president!

No one but Daniel, or maybe Jack. Not counting aliens of course. Heh.
