Video: BBC Sherlock vs Jane Eyre

Explaining My Obsession:

This video may help explain how I became obsessed with Sherlock, the BBC's brilliant modern adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic tales.

The very first time I watched Study in Pink, I immediately recognized some very familiar elements used to enhance, intensify the bromance between the two leads, John and Sherlock. These ( Read more... )

Good work compiling and formatting all of that. What I personally find hilarious is that I came to almost the exact same conclusion(s) when I saw Sherlock for the first time, not with the same version of Jane Eyre( or maybe exactly the same if you were thinking along the lines of the novel, I've never seen that version of the movie....so...) but from the looks of it the content is much the same. Now all I need in life is Sherlock dressing up as a homeless person or a gypsy and showing up to a crime scene, only letting John in on the joke midway through, and my life will be comppete.

I was thinking about the novel. Haven't even seen the movie yet. I just was happy to find this convenient movie trailer on YouTube to help illustrate my ideas.

So funny! I immediately thought of the disguise thing too. Boy was I disappointed when I learned the show's creators were going to have Sherlock "hide in plain sight" instead of using false faces, etc. There's a good "Holmes in disguise fools Watson" scene in Hound which makes for a fine counterpart example to the "Rochester dressed as gypsy" scene in Jane Eyre. Rochester's/Sherlock's love of putting one over on (screwing with) Jane/John is a huge part of my thesis, and it killed me that I couln't include it.

Thank you so much for the fabulous comments. Good to know I'm not alone in this. ;D

Oh, that was marvellous! Very cheeky indeed, and I loved it for it! :D You've done a fantastic job with so little material from Jane Eyre! Consider me converted to your theory!

Why, thank you so much! I had started out writing this thesis, but when I saw the Jane Eyre trailer posted on YouTube, I thought about the "a picture is worth a thousand words" saying and decided to do this instead. Plus, it was a great excuse to spend a lot of time looking at Sherlock footage. ;D
