I really like the way you showed John not only grieving for Sherlock, but grieving for the man he'd been with Sherlock in his life.

Honestly, I wanted to write John as being mostly OK without Sherlock, that his soldier side is still there but hidden, waiting for Sherlock to see it and give it purpose once again. But you're right--it came out sad. Thanks for the kind words!
