It's nice to look at your journal, it reminds me of graphic journals in the old days :)
a lot of your icons (especially the older sets) reminded me of icons from 10 years ago - that cap of the girl in a yellow dress walking in a field, the girls shoes with the little rosettes, the girl in the pink dress on the flower swing... I am so happy that you have a pink starbucks icon :D
this is a really random question, but I'm asking because you seem to know Jane Austen really well - not just the adaptations, but from the books.
I found this icon made a long time ago, and I'm trying to figure out which edition is featured here. Definitely not oxford or penguin. The spines seem to have little symbol shapes. I've tried to find a larger picture online but I don't know where the graphic maker got it from XD Anyhow if you recognize these editions please let me know :)
D'awww! Why thank you! I am a huge fan of the books, and I'll always love the books the best even though I do enjoy many adaptations.
I know I have seen these covers before, but I'm not sure which company they are from. I think they are older, though. I'm guessing they are probably came out after 2005? They are definitely not any of the Signet Classics (I have a few of the old ones, and the new ones use a fancier font than those covers). Based on the font, I would almost say they are from Penguin (not their usual lines, maybe mass market or trade paperbacks) or maybe Puffin? I did manage to find the original photo (https://www.flickr.com/photos/emilymuffins/1967976586/). She purchased it from Waterstones, but the photo doesn't show the publisher.
Beautiful! thank you so much! You have been incredibly helpful!
I was wondering, since we've interacted a lot and we seem to have common interests, would you like to be friends? You sound really awesome, and you know Austen inside and out :) I'm sort of just becoming an Austenite XD
Hi there! :) We seem to have a few things in common. We both love Jane Austen, Narnia and classical music. And we both love making graphics (your icons are so pretty <3) and we even have some mutual friends here.
Would you like to try being friends here? It’s okay if you aren’t adding anymore people right now, I just thought I’d ask. :)
I am really sorry to bother you so much, but I am reading Persuasion for the first time. I have the annotated version by Shapard to help me out, but I am struggling.
I didn't struggle like this with P&P or S&S. I am just finding it really dry!
I'm getting a few videos from the library, so hopefully that will help!
A lot of people love this novel the best! I have a better audiobook now, so hopefully that will help :)
Lol, it's no bother! To tell you the truth, I had a hard time getting into Persuasion myself! I would read the first few pages and then end up returning the book back to the library. Weirdly enough, it's my sister's favorite. It's kind of hard to get into at first, but it gets better. I had to read it a few times before I really started enjoying the story. The beginning is a little hard, but toward the middle you begin to understand Anne's character more.
I guess, for me, it helped to discuss what I read with my sisters, especially since we all have different personalities. If you have any questions, feel free to ask? I'm no expert by any means (my degree is in English Education), but I'm always happy to share my love of Jane Austen! ^^
I only recently heard an audiobook of Persuasion, but it was pretty good. I like the ones with British voices. I highly recommend the LibriVox recordings done by Karen Savage or Elizabeth Klett

Unfortunately, I rarely make icons of stuff I've never seen, especially now. Sorry!
If there is another fandom you'd like, I don't mind taking requests.
