"I knew you were here; I smelled the curry all the way upstairs," he commented. It was a little lie. As much as he told himself not to he'd been listening for the tell tale signs of her arrival ever since he'd stepped out of the shower.

Pulling boxes and plastic forks and napkins out, Tonks sort of avoided looking at him. For one thing, she knew he likely didn't want her to see him so out-of-sorts. And for another... He looked terrible and she didn't want him to see how worried she was for him.

As she got the food ready he opened the fridge for the butterbeers he had chilling there. Nothing, to his way of thinking, went better with curry then a butterbeer. He hoped Tonks agreed. He was about to ask her, but when he turned around it only took a moment to realize how hard she was trying not to look at him. He must look worse then he thought. Generally he holed up in his room for the whole day after a full moon, giving himself more then 24 hours before seeing people. He didn't know why he'd been daft enough to let Tonks come over tonight.
"I'll take these to the table," he muttered, carrying a drink in each hand.
