I need help!

I'm having another three-day weekend 'cause I took Friday off - so so nice! Only a three-day working week, then sleeping in on Friday! It's been killer hot too, we've had a real heat wave all last week and despite what they've promised on the weather forecasts it doesn't look anywhere close to breaking. And it's still only May! Seriously, we had ( Read more... )

is it you? newwaytowrite May 29 2010, 19:22:38 UTC
Is it you that was talking about only having one computer in the house and having to share with your future husband?

If so could you tell me who provides your internet service?

I know these sound like weird questions even if I have the right person but I have do have a point in asking.

Yes it was me. Our internet is with Bell, as is the phone. I'm curious now!

Ugh, I don't know if you actually would but it is Bell, and we would have to get a second black box - um modem, and we've already experimented with hooking up a different computer to it and it just doesn't work. Besides, I'd prefer wireless so we wouldn't have cords and shitty little plastic boxes everywhere, especially cause I want a laptop I can sit on the couch with :D

Oh, ring shopping is fun. I remember the husband and I went to several different places before we even started looking at prices, just to get an idea of what was available and what we liked. Apparently we were too young to be taken seriously, though; I remember we went into a couple of stores where the salespeople completely ignored us, to the point of walking past us repeatedly! That's right, ignore the couple cuddling in front of the engagement rings. That can't be a potential sale or anything.

Needless to say, we did not buy our rings in one of those stores. Hopefully you have better luck on that front!

The salespeople can be pretty arrogant. We haven't experienced that - even though most of the time we're dressed pretty shabbily! - but one salesman, who was perfectly nice, also struck us as being very bored and impatient and distracted. Wasn't a nice feeling. Makes you not want to give them your money, that's for sure!

Buy platinum - it lasts. As for all that computer stuff: much is beyond me :(, but I would also advise to get a router. Buy platinum rings :)

We won't get platinum rings. Waaaaay too expensive, but also I like the idea of the rings showing a bit of wear, like chinasparrow says below. I wouldn't want them to stay shiny - too shiny! I'm not a glittery kind of person, if you know what I mean :)

OOps. I did not realise platinum was that expensive :)
As for showing wear and tear, this ought to be gold then, or not? Or silver? Saying this, as my birthday mug from my godmother is black by now, sigh. Cleaned it once, and now it's black again. Have just given up.
Have you found something suitable?

Ant and I both have white gold wedding bands and they're holding up fine. Ant's does get knocked around a bit but still looks good. But you've got to go with what makes you happy!

Have you tried iview for Dr Who? It's through the ABC website so I'm not sure if you could view it from another country. It's worth a try though!

PS. When you're in iview click on 'search' and type in 'Doctor Who', not 'Dr Who'

Thanks, will try that hopefully today. Didn't get to last week and so I'm really wondering how Amy's fiance ended up in the Tardis!

The only problem with iview is that each show is on there for just a few days. You can also see QI too. :)

I promise I'll come back to the rest of your post, but for now, if you need Whoey tiding over, the episodes might be on the Space website (ie. here, but I can't tell if it's full episodes because it's region locked.

Sadly iView won't work because that's region-locked, as well (I'm doing an assignment on it at the moment: it's rights restrictions an all. Grr.). Woe.

You actually met a real-life person called Socrates. Amazing! He sounds like the perfect person to buy your wedding rings from! Shame the white gold is so expensive, though. I'm a fan of white gold, too--yellow gold always looks odd to me.

Sorry, I can't help you with the WordPress stuff! I usually wind up typing things into Google and hoping that'll help (which thankfully it often does). Not very techno-savvy, but I guess it helps me learn as I go along.

Yes, isn't that cool?! I'd like to have that story: "our rings? We got them from a man called Socrates..."

Yeah yellow gold almost always looks tacky and cheap. My mum's is yellow gold but it's old and dull and looks much better - they've been married for forty years!

Well, the "Posts Feed" one is working, which is essentially the same thing as the "By Email" one - don't know what the deal is there, but the latter one doesn't work. I'd like to get rid of it but these widgets aren't very flexible like that.

ARGH! Open bracket open bracket open bracket!
