That's happened to me a couple of times too. Now I draft my posts in Word.

Enjoy the cottage:)

I made sure I copied all the text before previewing it - of course, nothing was different but with that precaution made it was fine! Typical.

Have a good trip! Ugh, it's so miserable down here, although thankfully now it's raining so maybe some of this humidity will disappear.

I know what you mean about this pallaitive care--anyone who joins that field is an amazing person. Nana was with an incredible hospice care, one of the few private ones that wouldn't turn people down because they couldn't pay. They relied on donors and fundraisers, and their level of care was outstanding. I remember we told her nurse that it would be easier to care for her in a hospital bed, and it would probably be more comfortable since they're adjustable. That afternoon a truck came with the bed, and they even took apart her old one and helped us put it away before setting it up.

And another recipe! I don't think I've ever had real gingerbread people, or gingerbread at all. It's just never caught on down here, I guess.

It's stinking hot here, I'm so sticky it's nasty.

That's so wonderful that your Nana was taken care of so well. I don't know if Adam's grandfather will be moved to a hospice - not anytime soon at least, and I know they're hoping that he'll get something like pneumonia and go quickly. This lingering shutting-down of the body is so hard on everyone.

You should try it! You'll love it!

Mmmm, gingerbread! I made Stephanie Alexanders recipe last Christmas for presents and I was really happy with it, especially as I hadn't made them before.

Best wishes to Adams grandad, and I hope you have a good time at the cottage. :)

This one's actually from Mum's old Women's Weekly biscuit and slices book. I've never come across a recipe as good, so I stick with it :)

I always write out my posts in notepad, now. Safari crashed on me about 700 too many times! And usually hit "post" and then if there's a problem I'll fix it straight away. You can't tell how many times posts have been edited, can you?

I hadn't heard about Adam's grandfather before--I'm sorry to hear it. It is good to hear he's getting decent care, though. It sounds totally different to what happened to my grandpa when he had Alzheimer's. Well, he got nice people caring for him in the end, I think, but there were so many problems finding him a home to go to, because he was just getting so bad that grandma couldn't cope. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. He did die not long after he got into a home though, which was probably for the best. He was nothing like our grandpa by then.

I hope you enjoy the break at the cottage! Soak up some fresh air!

Notepad would be practical but I'm fussy that way: I have to write it in LJ-land or it won't feel like I'm writing a post and I'll get weird. Hard to explain.

Sorry about your Grandpa, that's a hard way to go, Alzheimer's, I'm sure.

The cottage was a lovely break!
