i dug a grave for sam last night.and we put him in. we placed flowers on his grave. my mum said there was no blood on his fur and that he died of shock. she said to look at his eyes. which were wide open. eery

This reminds me of when my previous cat Bingo died. His death was different though: he was getting sick and one day went off into the bushes. We never saw him again. It was sad that we weren't able to say goodbye to him. And when we realised he wasn't coming back it sunk in how much he meant to us and how much joy he brought the family.
It was nice of your neighbours to come over like that. It must be hell for them too as they harbour the guilt. Agreed that giving money for a replacement wasn't the most tactful thing to do, but I'm sure their intentions were good.
Nandini I'm so sorry. I told Mum and she said it's really sad too. I've never had a pet so I don't know how much it hurts, but you have all our most heartfelt sympathies.
