There's always consequences. You just know there's going to be problems, I'm waiting for the season 8 Buffy comics to confirm this - though my fic will become AU then.

I don't know if it's come through. I had Xander in chapter one joking about not wanting to do this kind of thing anymore but that's not true from his reaction to Andrew doing Giles usual job. Xander's scared of what his place is in the group and how it seems to be changing. Did that make sense?

It definitely made sense. Actually, Xander could want both, as well. People are often torn, because they want to quit doing something but fear the consequences of doing so. Good writing captures that kind of thing.
