My problem with this is the way that the current administration has systematically made it obvious that they have no desire to discuss, or even consider discussing, anything with people who don't agree with their view. Urging unity is great, but both sides need to come together. Many people on the left have tried in the last 4 years, and have been completely rebuffed.
We cannot stand united when 50.1% of the people decide that as the majority they can ignore the 49.9%.
We can vehemently disagree with the Administration without taking it out on those around us. Yes, currently the administration does not compromise, and therefore no compromise is possible. At no time should we just submit, subjugating ourselves to him.
Except that many of his supporters have taken on this attitude as their own. That makes it impossible to discuss, compromise, etc. I'm not suggesting that we subjugate ourselves to him, but what options DO we have?

The big issue I see (well, ok - one of them) is that almost half the people voting for Bush were *never* contacted by the Kerry campaign.
