I've been volunteering at the children's department of one of the local libraries since last November. In theory, at some point, this should turn into a sort of unpaid internship in which I could get some really good experience in order to attempt to get a job. My sympathy for all this stress. I'm happy for the potential opportunities opening up, but I totally get how little time and energy there is in your life to apply for jobs. It's encouraging that the outgoing librarian recommended you apply for the job :)

Good luck with getting everything together, and finding an enthusiastic energetic face for interviews.

PS As an alum is there a job center or something at Pitt where you can get advice on your resume. Take advantage of it if there is. You paid all that tuition :)

Yeah. It's hard to overcome inertia and take the first step, but it could lead to some really good opportunities. I just can't let myself be paralyzed by fear of the unknown.

Thanks. I have to overcome the initial sense of dread and loathing I feel every time I contemplate working on that stinking resume. I spent so much time working on it years ago, with no good result, that I have a lot of resistance to ever even seeing it again.
