So Prince Buddy continues to do really well.  We had two house guests today - the exterminator and the AT&T guy:

• Buddy was TERRIFIED of the can the exterminator was carrying around and as a result would not warm up to him at all; in fact, he shook most of the time he was in the house.  He even put the can down and tried to see if Buddy would come to ( Read more... )

So I took Mr. Buddy to the vet; earlier in the week I realized that he needed to have a minor procedure (gland draining) and scheduled it for first thing this morning.  I was hoping with me there, the procedure would be less traumatic.  I was able to successfully put a muzzle on Buddy (took a little time, but he did not put up an unreasonable fight ( Read more... )

Buddy has had a pretty darn good week; other than still waking me up once or twice throughout the night, he's been really good.  Still gets on the couches some when I'm not home (or when he forgets I'm in the shower), but he has been great with commands and his walks.  The trainer gave me a great idea yesterday, I'm putting foil on the couches and ( Read more... )

My dog rocks.  Yesterday was Buddy's three-week anniversary at home.  He is doing really well in most areas; following commands and doing a nice job with walks.  We had a few interesting incidents this week:

• On Tuesday, when I returned home for lunch...  BUDDY MET ME AT THE DOOR AGAIN.  And, yes, when I left a few hours earlier he was locked in his ( Read more... )

So my little Buddy is still too freaking cute...  He is doing a lot better in the following areas:

* Walking - much better at heeling and, in general not pulling the leash.

* Sleeping - he still wakes me up some at night, but generally only bothers me when he really does need to go outside.  He sleeps on his bed in my room and I keep my door closed ( Read more... )

So poochy boy has had two great days in a row!  Besides being really hungry in the morning (makes a mommy proud!), he has been playing a lot with his toys.  It is hilarious when I toss them and runs for them over the floors - he does major skidding along the way.  I *think* he is feeling more comfortable.  He is definitely responding well to ( Read more... )

Well Prince Buddy didn't seem to want to poop last night - and I didn't seem to want to have to be cleaning anything up in the middle of the night (he has had three poop events in the house so far...  I can't believe I'm discussing my dog's bodily functions on my blog...).  So we compromised and he slept in his kennel.  He doesn't like going into ( Read more... )

So Buddy and I had our first Bark Busters session last night... a little over three hours.  I learned a lot and realized there is so much more to learn.  While I think I had a pretty good understanding intellectually in regards to dogs needing pack leaders, confirming that the owner is the alpha dog, etc., it is way harder learning how to actualize ( Read more... )

Buddy did great today with so much time in the kennel.  He was thrilled when I came home and seemed, at least to me, to understand I'm not abandoning him.  He is so affectionate and eager to please.  I'm looking forward to the behavior specialist meeting with us tomorrow night - we'll have about 2 1/2 hours together; she'll assess Buddy, teach me ( Read more... )
