OF COURSE I HAVE WATCHED THE PROMO. IF I HAD ANGELIC TIME-TRAVELING POWERS I WOULD BE IN NEXT WEEK WATCHING THE ACTUAL EPISODE.

S4!Cas would never have the done the things that Cas is doing now

I agree. For one thing s4!Castiel had more of a follower than a leader mentality - which means that he might well have ended up fighting on Raphael's side in this particular holy war. Not to mention Cass' priorities are all 'saaaave my friends' while s4!Cass would be more 'save Heaven'.

I'm so pleased that the Mother storyline got wrapped up though

Well it certainly clears up the way for the new Big Bad. Though should it actually be possible for the Mother of All Monsters to be killed? And we didn't manage to get her mythology - I was kinda hoping that she'd turn out to be the Biblical Eve though it was nice we got her motivations.

ME TOOO!! HOW CAN THEY MAKE US WAIT THIS LONG?!

Yeah, I agree completely, S4!Cas would probably have ended up fighting with Raphael, saving his brothers and sisters and fighting for peace would be more important than saving humans, or fighting for freedom. Now Cas is talking good game about the greater good, but the truth is he's doing this for the ideals of a few people, the greater good doesn't even come into it.

Killing The Mother was a bit of a WTF moment, but I suppose they weren't too worried about getting the mythology sorted because she was a red herring all along. I do wish she had been developed more, Biblical Eve would've been awesome, but SPN does seem to introduce concepts with a lot of potential ( I'm still waiting for Kali to show up again) and then move on hastily. You win some, you lose some you guess, at least Show seems to have dug itself out of the funk of early S6.

Yeah, for all of his time as a human, Castiel never really grokked free will. He just subscribes to it because that's what his boyfriend friend Dean says is cool ^^

I'm still waiting for the rest of the gods to show up. I refuse to believe Lucifer really killed them permanently, or that someone on the writing team didn't actually think through on the implications D=

Yeah, the competing Big Bads were draining the show of its direction and purpose. At least we know who to focus on now ^^

Yeah, the writers don't seem to have thought through what implications Lucifer killing all the pagan gods permanently must have. There's always a season 7, right? ;D

I WILL EAT THE ASHES!

This is further proof that Sera lives on LJ, this plot line is only slightly changed from this fic by user where Dean exorcises demons by drinking holy water and then peeing on them.

The entire Eve thing was all a bit strange...should it even be possible to kill the Mother of all evil? Wouldn't that be like killing the evil God? Strange times, also why would Eve create the Phoenix if it's ashes could kill her? He was a monster, right? It's probably best not to to ask too many questions...

CROWLEY/CASTIEL IS HAWT. EACH ONE IS TRYING TO OUT TOP THE OTHER, SHOW THE OTHER WHO'S BOSS. THERE IS A LOT OF THROWING EACH OTHER AGAINST ALLEY WALLS AND SCREWING EACH OTHER SENSELESS. IS THIS IS THE CROWLEY/CASTIEL YOU'RE THINKING OF?

RIGHT? THAT FIC IS HILARIOUS.

True, true, perhaps Show is an evil genius, tricking us into thinking actualfax clues were plot holes and general continuity fuckery.

And hey, sometimes we make things that can harm us.

True. Maybe Eve was having some issues when she decided to come up with that one. Even Eve needs a good shrink sometimes. :D

Crowley pouring Cas drinks

YES. SPN is the show where everyone pours everyone else drinks and it has layered ~meaning~.

Crowley teaches Cas the ropes at being morally ambiguous and a total BAMFy badass and tells Cas that he sees a lot of himself in Cas. Cas shows Crowley the stars where he grew up, 'I'm not a bad person (like you)' he tells Crowley 'this is what I'm fighting for' he says and Crowley's all 'pfft, Cas you shouldn't be so sentimental, you're just like me'

Show is being very good to us, isn't it? Oh, Cas, I just hope we see him in S7, no matter who he chooses to be.

I'm avoiding any kind of speculation at this point because I enjoy the mystery of the motivations in the characters and because I think it's cool looking for the clues (is a mystery geek) - and I don't think we've seen all the surprises, yet - but I agree on Cas not being evil and on Cas acting in a morally gray way in a mode that reminds us of the Winchesters. I love how his story is coming together and intersecting with all the dangling strings.

Also Dean OMG DEAN I love him so much. SO MUCH. And no, I don't want to see Dean grow up EVER. :D

And I love Sam. And Bobby. And everybody. I'm just filled with so much glee over the show I'm a little bit afraid.

Oh I agree, I think there'll be more surprises, the first half of the season seemed so all over the place, 'does Sera even know what the fuck she's doing?' kind of thing but they managed to tie everything together and get that noir feel going on. The intersections are so cool, we don't really know who has what motivation at this point. I suspect Robo!Sam was somehow a player in this and the things he did might come into play, one half of the finale is Sam centric after all.

DEAN. I HAVE MISSED THIS DEAN SORELY. I agree, DEAN, NEVER GROW UP.

Glee and general happiness is never a good sign on Show, it only means that it will crash around our ears at some point and stomp on our hearts. I too am afraid, so very afraid. D:

This episode owns me right now. Word to your entire post. <33333

There are plenty of people who are all 'Evil!Cas? NOooo, Sera, I will end you if this shit goes down,' which is a valid point, I guess, except for the whole threatening over tones, but I'm rather excited by this moral ambiguity, it's very Winchester. It breaks my heart that Cas might get estranged from the boys, Dean especially. Cas messing with Sam's soul is something he will not forgive, OTP or no. There's talk that this is regressing Cas' character development to S4. Well, I don't agree with that at all, making all these regrettable desicions is character development, he's looking at the bigger picture, sure that's pretty angelic, but he's doing it for the reasons he's learnt from the Winchesters. He's fighting for freedom, yet going about it in all the wrong ways. S4!Cas would never have the done the things that Cas is doing now. Love your Castiel thoughts. Is Crowley Casitel's Ruby or is Cas pulling all the strings himself -- is Cas the Big Bad of the season, even ( ... )

There's going to be Cas backstory!
I'm super excited by that, I'm hoping that it doesn't mean that it's Cas' swan song though, flash backs, a meaty storyline, that never bodes well for supporting characters....

THEY'D NEVER LET CAS GO, RIGHT?

Still, it's Edlund, and I love him and Cas-centric eps can never be bad, so BRING IT ON!!
