So wonderful. I read this last night or the night before (can't remember), and loved it so much I'm rereading. It's... perfect.

A favorite author of mine is writing a story that starts at the same moment as this. When I read her story I almost died; it's my new favorite way for a story to start - although hers was the first (for me), yours has a permanent place in my heart.

I can't wait to continue, even though, or perhaps especially because I know what's coming next.

Whoa, I've made it to re-read status? Awesome!

I know lots of people have done the "Jacob says yes to the running away" concept (which one are you referring to?). I felt bad about using a plot that other writers have done, and done better -- but I just couldn't help myself. It's such an ideal place to start a fic. I figured I'd just have to run the risk of being cliche and arguably plagiaristic, because this story would. Not. Leave. Me. Alone.

I'm glad you liked it, though :)

Jacob says yes to running away - That's funny that you say lots of people have done that because it was totally new to me up until a few weeks ago. In my experience people tend to go with the scene in the truck after the near-drowning, or the almost kiss before the phone rings, or even more overdone is when Bella's about to jump. (The other one I've read that starts this way is by blueandblack on ff). Anyways, I think your story shows some real creativity. Thanks again.

Oooh, yes, I know that one. Love Pull Your Sore Ribs In kicks my ass eight ways from Sunday, but still... I couldn't resist.

(I'm tempted to try my hand at a post-cliff fic. For the express purpose of writing a keyboard melter. But I must! resist!)

I think the reason that those spots get so much attention is because people want to write in New Moon as much as possible. There's plenty of Eclipse fics around too (particularly roadtrip ones), but New Moon is... seriously, I can't bring myself to acknowledge anything that happens after Alice comes back. I hate Eclipse. I hate imprinting. I hate that Meyer destroyed Jacob's character, and "the kiss" makes me sick (both because it's OOC and because it's so fucked up), and what's worse is that after "the kiss" Bella decides she is in love with Jacob after all, hammering forward once again that SM believes that controlling, abusive men are the only ones worth having, and... gah. Anyway, if you're going to write from New Moon, there's only 200 pages of hooks to choose from, and so... you get ( ... )

I've never taken a trip *quite* like this, but I have gone on the road with someone I love, and yeah -- everyone should try it once. It's amazing.

And yeah, she ran -- in spite of what Bella tells us in Meyer's writing, I think she's a bit vain ;)

After reading this fic for a second time...I feel as if I can appreciate it all the more. NM is full of possibilities for our talented J/B authors to flex their muscles.

One of the few things that gripped my heart in the NM movie was when Jacob tells Bella that he would run away with her if he could. I can envision that so clearly in my mind and your fic lets my imagination make a much better alternative that what cannon lets happen (screw you canon).

My heart wrenches as I can feel how difficult it is for Jacob to leave WA and one of Bella's few redeeming qualities is how protective she is of him. The fact that she wants nothing more but to get him away from a situation that he desperately did not want makes me cheer for her.

Let the journey continue...

I thought that was fantastic too. I thought about changing the intro of the fic to reflect the movie dialogue instead of the book, but... well, I didn't think of it at the time, and now it's really too late. But yes, canon can bite me.

And yeah, if nothing else, canon does allow for the fact that Bella is very protective of Jacob. I personally believe that that's because she feels more than she'll admit to, but that's the kind of thing that has to be allowed to grow naturally (without the influence of certain sparklepires).

Enjoying this no end. You've got the characters down pat! Don't know where you're going (either do they) but I hope we have fun getting there!
Thanks

gaaah. whenever i read J/B fic, i want to write my own, but i suck at writing. i envy your writing so fucking much.

i have read only one fic besides yours that takes on jacob and bella running away. oddly enough it reminds me of yours. but in the good way, they're both awesome.

do you write AH AU?? if you want ideas i have a lot for that kind of fic. if you dont just ignore me XD.

going to read the next part :)

Nah, I don't do the AH thing... I've got original fiction for that ;) And yeah, this is definitely not an unique idea. I tried to resist writing it, actually, because so many people had done it so fucking well, but the story just wouldn't leave me alone, and, well, this was the result. I'm glad you liked it anyway :)
