Checking Messages

After about eight days at a hotel, Audrey checked out, hoping returning home wouldn't be bad. Audrey opened her door and flicked on the lights. The air had become even staler from its dormant state. She entered, closed her door, and put her bag down, seeing her answering machine light flashing. ( She went over and pressed play... )

Hey. S'been about a week. I figured I'd give you that much time before trying to talk to you again. So... tada.

I'm not sorry. At all. If you had that bad a reaction to me just thinking there might be something wrong, then chances are, there is. No one gets that pissed unless they're hiding something.

You know my number. Call me when you admit it to yourself. They always say that's the first step, anyway. And just to warn you -- I'm gonna email you once a week. Just in case you need reminding of whatever the hell it is you think you can keep from everyone.

Yanno, I have no clue at this point what you'd even want in a friend. I mean, if I can't worry about you, what the hell can I do? Assume everything's okay even if I see signs that they're not? What, am I supposed to ignore that? I'm not you. I don't ignore important shit. Hell, if there was something wrong with me, do you think I'd want you to ignore that ( ... )

Audrey, absolutely shocked and invaded from the email, did something she never normally does--she deleted the email. Usually, she never deletes or erases anything--even if they hurt her--but this was different. VERY different. He knew too much.

She didn't even have to think about it before deciding. There was no decision to be made. She just did it. She deleted it, then blocked his email address so she'd receive no further emails.
