Im having a hard time with this information...seems like a huge number. I got this list in an email warning against buying gift cards from these places because they wont be honored. Is it true that these stores are closing after Christmas

There would be a class action lawsuit if they didn't honor them at ANY store, however it's always possible that the stores that are closing won't, but even that wouldn't make any sense.

Snopes says that Circuit City filed for Chapter 11 this month, so there's that.

Have you noticed how much JUNK there is for sale? Bad, BAD clothes? Crummy, plasticky, "gold tone," cheap-ass JUNK for ridiculous prices? My own theory is that Capitalism is running on slave labor and busywork, and we're being sold worse and worse garbage just to keep all meaningful labor pumping money into a system which supports the stinking few at the top VERY well, and is costing the rest of us our lives in increments. Merely my opinion, but this crash is long overdue. This system is moribund. It'll hurt. Ah, well. I hope something better can be built in its place.
