The Villain Maxwell: All 5 Scenes with Audio Score

Dec 15, 2008 10:31

Here are the 5 artsy 'villain' scenes I scored for my cousin's movie. It's some creepy music, but it's even freakier now that you can see the imagery it was made for. There's no dialogue in these scenes.

Yeah, it's about time.

It took QuickTime Pro trickery to make it happen.

while i totally don't get what's going on in the film -- and maybe that's due to lack of context -- i think the music sounds awesome. it's really wicked and sinister sounding. radical shit, man.

Before I scored the scenes, I naturally wanted some context. My cousin told me a general description of the movie (it sounded like a bunch of random artiness with a loose storyline tying it all together). He also told me that he wanted me to do the 'villain' scenes because he know I'd make them dark (yeah, my whole family seems to know that I generally don't make very happy music).

Thus, I tried to just get the eerie mood of the particular scenes I did. I went by the visual FX treatment he did (really over the top but oh well) and the speed/motion of the Maxwell character. I scored the scenes mostly in real-time with a giant amount of synths while I simultaneously watched the videos in Cubase.

I have a DVD copy of the movie now, but I still haven't gotten around to watching it. I'm pretty bad at watching movies nowadays. I still don't know what it's really about, hehe. I'll find out eventually. I'm curious what he did.
