Julien smiled uneasily when Bastien recognized Eden for his work, tensing at the way Eden was holding onto him. Eden's hand on his hip was like a vice, a strangely possessive gesture for him. He was thankful that his blood did not circulate on its own anymore, because he would have been crimson at the innuendo, at the duplicitous way Bastien spoke to him. It wasn't like Julien was in a position to talk back, and besides: Bastien was probably harmless enough. He had always enjoyed getting a rise out of everyone with his outrageous behavior.

"Let's walk. Quickly."
Eden dropped Julien's hand as he set off at a brisk pace, making sure Julien stayed at least in his peripheral as they made their way to the hotel. His lips were set in a thin line, his jaw clenched tight enough to shatter teeth.
'I thought they were supposed to kill you, not kiss you' Eden managed to keep his thoughts somewhat gentle as he pressed them into Julien's mind, keep most of his emotions out of the question.

It didn't really work, but at least he'd made the effort.
Eventually Eden made it to their room, unlocking the door and stepping inside. He was tempted to slam he door, but decided against such a ridiculous action, just letting it shut on its own behind him instead.
"Would you even believe me if I told you it's not how it seemed?"
Eden bit his tongue again, collecting himself. He unzipped his jacket and hung it on a hook by the door, slipping each boot off and running a hand through his hair before replying, his words much more calm and even than he expected them to come out. "And how exactly do you think it seemed to me, darling?"
