You wanna make something of vampires in love

Eden hadn't been to Paris since he was mortal, and then the visit had been bittersweet. A trip around Europe with his love, tainted by death looming over them. This time was different. Wonderfully different. He had a lover who would not leave him, one that he would not waste away, one that he would not have to watch die.

He was different, and he ( Read more... )

Bastien, who technically didn't live at all anymore, really lived for causing excellent turmoil. It was an area in which he excelled, and right away he could sense exactly where this Eden's attention was focused. He saw the way he was clutching Julien, how hard he was holding onto him. If they were so very much in love, then why was Eden worried? Bastien vowed to find out ( ... )

Julien's smile widened at Bastien's double-talk, at the underhanded way that he mentioned Julien's fall from grace. Of course Bastien would take a friendly meeting to such... unpleasant depths. He had been abandoned by Lasombra and raised by Toreador. Drama followed him around like, well. Like his fucking shadow.

Julien smiled uneasily when Bastien recognized Eden for his work, tensing at the way Eden was holding onto him. Eden's hand on his hip was like a vice, a strangely possessive gesture for him. He was thankful that his blood did not circulate on its own anymore, because he would have been crimson at the innuendo, at the duplicitous way Bastien spoke to him. It wasn't like Julien was in a position to talk back, and besides: Bastien was probably harmless enough. He had always enjoyed getting a rise out of everyone with his outrageous behavior.

"I suppose you won't be staying, seeing as how Amelie threatened to send you to Final Death if you even so much as uttered 'Paris.' Well, you mustn't worry. I would never betray you.""I ( ... )

Eden gripped Julien's hand, staring at Bastien until he was gone, lost to shadows that sent a chill down Eden's already cold spine. His good mood had been thoroughly destroyed, and all he wanted then was to get back to the hotel and shut the door safely behind them, thoughts of Julien's desire to Kiss on the balcony gone from his mind. Kissing in the dark seemed like a much better idea. Kissing Julien hard all over to remind him exactly who he loved sounded even better.

"Let's walk. Quickly."

Eden dropped Julien's hand as he set off at a brisk pace, making sure Julien stayed at least in his peripheral as they made their way to the hotel. His lips were set in a thin line, his jaw clenched tight enough to shatter teeth.

'I thought they were supposed to kill you, not kiss you' Eden managed to keep his thoughts somewhat gentle as he pressed them into Julien's mind, keep most of his emotions out of the question.

Julien rolled his eyes at the intrusion into his mind, but he kept walking, having no desire to have some sort of inane quarrel on the fucking unsafe streets of Paris. It was dangerous enough out here without causing some sort of spectacle. He walked quickly, keeping his hands tucked into his jacket pockets, keeping his head down. It stung a little, that Eden had reacted in such a way. He tried to imagine how he would behave if the shoe had been on the other foot, but Julien couldn't imagine it. He couldn't imagine anyone behaving so disrespectfully. The fact that Bastien was just being himself was of little comfort; he was still a stranger to Eden ( ... )

Eden let Julien take the stairs, opting for the elevator himself. He wanted a few moments of quiet solitude before getting to his and Julien's room, wanted to hopefully calm down a bit by the time he got there.

It didn't really work, but at least he'd made the effort.

Eventually Eden made it to their room, unlocking the door and stepping inside. He was tempted to slam he door, but decided against such a ridiculous action, just letting it shut on its own behind him instead.

"Would you even believe me if I told you it's not how it seemed?"

Eden bit his tongue again, collecting himself. He unzipped his jacket and hung it on a hook by the door, slipping each boot off and running a hand through his hair before replying, his words much more calm and even than he expected them to come out. "And how exactly do you think it seemed to me, darling?"
