The image of it happening was a bit gratuitous. But having it actually happen was an interestng plot point...I hadn't heard anything about Paul McCrane leaving the show, so I'm wondering what's going on.

he hadn't really been in any major roll, per se, other than the evil dickhead monster, so if he stays on and doesn't die or leave, then it looks like they'll delve deeper into what makes him tick...

i tell ya, it was THEE last thing on EARTH i expected to happen, and thee character i expected least to have anything like that happen to...
