No Dominion, chapter two (highlander/ab:vh)

Here's chapter two of the Methos and Edward fic.

Chapter Two: Be Not Proud

"I know that through your eyes which look on me
Who stand regarding you with pitiful breath,
You see beyond the moment's pause, you see
The sunny sky, the skimming bird beneath,
And, fronting on your windows hopelessly,
Black in the noon, the broad estates of Death."

I approve of your soundtrack. Liked the chapter, too - kept the pace with, I dunno, hints of the way people related to each other. I don't mean Anita describing Edward as Death, more the way the undersecretary was upset for dobbing in his mate, and:

He looked more like an underfed graduate student than someone who belonged in Edward's world, and the sheepish, uncertain nod he gave me strengthened that impression... Edward gave him an unreadable glance.

Lovely.

I do find the small font that appears in my browser a bit awkward to read, though.

I do find it a bit awkward

I'm glad you're enjoying it -- and I'm terribly sorry about the font. I've somehow managed to super-size the font on my own screen, and as Amanda is in the middle of an artistic bender, there's no one to fix it for me, and I can't tell how big the text is on other people's screens.
I'm going to go try to fix it now -- let me know if it helps?

It's still the same, alas. Eh, I'll cope.

I tried to fix it again -- is it any better?

Again, great job with nailing LKH's style of writing! Now that I read both chapters again, I get that Edward was giving Adam the look because of how he was acting and not the accent. *headdesk* I must have been tired last night.

I can't wait to read more!

I think we were *all* tired last night. I think I'm *still* tired.

Thank you again, btw, for the beta-help. You rock.

I am so enjoying this, but I do have one minor and rather petty quibble...

You said My visitor was 5'8"
about Edward and then Adam was nearly Richard's height,

Only problem is that Methos is 6 foot (well PW is at least).

So's Richard, as far as I know -- unless I mis-read? I don't have my LKH books with me at the moment -- they're somewhere in the basement right now.

Gah! Even with the cut and paste I for some reason read Richard as Edward. Oops! I wonder about my brain sometimes, I'm sure it goes away without telling me...

neat! i really do wish I was into the respective canons more; methos especially seems like an interesting guy :3

aaaand, i think you have your font set to one instead of two? stick in a <*font size="2"> (take out asterisk) after the cut and that should fix things :D of course, doing page->text size isn't too much of a hassle for us, so no worries ^_^

See, once html goes past 'make it bold' or 'make it italic', I'm quite honestly out of my depth. ::sheepish face::

glad you're enjoying this. and yeah, Methos is one of my fav. characters in fandom, if not my absolute favourite. :)

I've just been introduced to the Anita Blake series, so seeing a crossover/blending between her and Highlander made me squeal. Okay not realyl, but I did enjoy both chapters so far and I'm looking forward to reading more.

I'm glad you're enjoying it!

As far as the Anita-verse goes -- personally, I stopped reading them after 'Obsidian Butterfly', because the spirit of the books was so very changed. I'd be interested to know what you thought of the later ones.

I just finished the third book, and am starting the fourth. I'll let you know if I make it past "OB". LOL

I did find a glaring plot hole in the third book, though: Her car was totalled escaping the cemetary, but the next day she drove out to meet Mr. Oliver. No mention of a rental car or anything. The next chapter, she's bumming a ride with Larry because of her car. Tsk.

There are plot inconsistencies in those books that you could *drive* that car through!

If you do make it past OB, you're a braver soul than I.
