I really love the "magic is all around" theory as compared to the pureblood nonsense, after all, pureblood does not a powerful wizard make, but the innate magic imbuing everything around them would raise their awareness...just awesome, I love that. I'm totally taken with the idea. *boggles*

As far as the other bit -- it made sense to me, too. After all, there had to be some sort of basis for the prejudice to begin with, as Slytherin certainly never struck me as the type to reject a possible advantage from sheer prejudice. I've always imagined him as too impatient to take the time to bring Muggleborns up to the instinctive standards of their pureblood counterparts. I also would postulate that this sort of instinct is the reason for most of the 'incidental' magic at Hogwart -- sort of a learn-by-absorbtion tutorial that would be of most help to the Muggleborns. And now I'm rambling on like Remus writing his paper. Bed now.
