Chapter Ten: Or Their Stretched Purpose Slacken

“Who murdered all these?
These living dead, that root in his nerves and his blood...

Is he the archive of their accusations?
Or their ghostly purpose, their pining vengeance...
...their unforgiven prisoner?”
-Ted Hughes, Crow's Nerve Fails

Molly has a routine. She doesn't quite think of it that way, but ( Read more... )

Damn, that was quick! I love it, of course. Love the way Sirius used Remus's argument against him. Loved that his approach was so much more gentle than Remus's. Loved his arrogance with Phineas. What I REALLY loved was that description of how frightened Scabbers was, and how he knew that Remus and Sirius were using Dark Magic to find him! Lovely. I'd be scared too if Sirius were after me. He was the best student (along with James) of his day, and good at anything he tried. When you add how much money he has along with his talent and brains and courage that's devastating. Knowing Remus wouldn't hold back his werewolf side if he caught him would freeze the blood too, particularly considering how adept Remus is in DADA.

I also enjoyed the comforting bits about Molly making everything homey and good for everyone, but it was still sad to read Molly and Arthur believing the Sirius was guilty.

Looking forward to more as usual.

see, i have all sorts of plans for that. I shall confess here that despite the - and wow, am i really at ten chapters already -- despite the ten chapters here, DWYS is less than halfway finished. probably less than a third of the way finished, to be honest. it actually might end up being multiple books, god help me.

Okay, first? The Molly segment is brilliant. I don't know why it struck me so much more strongly than the other parts, it just did. Her POV is exactly what I imagine in my head. I love that she takes comfort in tradition, and that she physically checks on her boys even with the spells in place. I love Molly.

And I really, REALLY liked Peter being scared of Sirius. So... proper, somehow, y'know?

Remus and Sirius' dynamics are wonderful. Love Sirius turning Remus' words against him, and that echo between their past and present, with Remus' insecurities and Sirius' protectiveness.

More, please?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaglsdhflsdjfksdfsdlkfds.

Oh my god. Molly.

She'd be happy to know that she has made her home a sanctuary.

Oh. Your characterisation of her is perfect. Really. Perfect.

And Remus/Sirius! I love their interactions and lsdkjflsd about the promise bit. I love how much Sirius means it each time he says it. Powerful yet there's a hint of 'of course, moony, how could you even doubt that?' lsdkfjlsk <333

This is honestly one of my favourite fics.

Oh, Molly. She has a mother's heart for sure, something tha I share with her. I got tears for Harry and Neville too. *sniffles*

And Peter...the little rat knows the inevitable was coming. They'll kill him together, as it should be.

I promise, he'd answered, and at twelve years old, he'd never meant anything more fervently.

I love this, it's so Sirius Lovely.
